A Japanese six-fold byōbu screen, late Edo to early Meiji period. Painted in ink on paper with an atmospheric mountainous landscape unfolding across the panels.

Set within softly aged silver-leaf borders and framed by finely woven silk brocade mounts. Original black lacquered timber frame.

Equally effective used traditionally as a folding screen or fully opened and mounted as a large-scale wall decoration. Beautifully suited to a pared-back contemporary interior as much as a more classical setting, bringing softness, scale and atmosphere to a room.

Dimensions:

59 cm x 174 cm each panel; overall width approx. 360 cm

Condition:

Very good condition; sympathetically restored, some minor wear visible.
