Mid-Century Brass Mirror. Joseph Frank

Elegant mid-century wall mirror with the iconic looped brass frame design typical of Josef Frank. The mirror glass remains in very good condition and is mounted in a slim cream rubber border which in turn is set in the brass looped frame. The frame is in good condition with aged patina and tarnish to the brass as expected. Ready to hang.

About the Designer: Josef Frank (1885-1967), Austrian architect, furniture and fabric designer. His advocacy of warm, comfortable, eclectically-styled environments was highly influential in his adopted country of Sweden, and it is now widely regarded as a harbinger of the backlash against a doctrinaire modernism and the embrace of the homespun that occurred in the 1960s. In all his designs, Frank took inspiration from a broad variety of sources. In his furniture, one can discern traces of Asian patterns, Rococo, Italian Renaissance, Scandinavian handicrafts and even Chippendale pieces.
